Ocean #1 is part of the blue series of paintings.  The same hues of blue was used with different techniques from straight pours to Dutch Pours.  It is interesting to see how layering the colours in different paintings achieve a totally different effect.

For Ocean #1 I used a technique based on the Dutch Pour.  A typical Dutch Pour is where you thin the paint and use a hairdryer to blow the paint into a petal shape.  For this paining I used the hairdryer in the same way but rather than petals made waves.  I particularly like the effects is makes on the wave which curves over to nearly touch the body of the wave.  There is a hint of turquoise which adds a resting point for the viewers eye.

Ocean #1 is a 50 x 40.5 cm canvas with 1.5 cm sides.
